Fern constituents: triterpenoids from Adiantum capillus-veneris.
Two new migrated hopane triterpenoids, viz. 4alpha-hydroxyfilican-3-one and fern-9(11)-en-12beta-ol, and olean-18-en-3-one and olean-12-en-3-one as the first example of oleanane compounds from Adiantum ferns were isolated along with many other known triterpenoids from Adiantum capillus-veneris of China and Egypt. Their structures were elucidated by spectroscopic analyses.
متن کاملThe fern Adiantum capillus-veneris lacks stomatal responses to blue light.
We investigated the responses of stomata to light in the fern Adiantum capillus-veneris, a typical species of Leptosporangiopsida. Stomata in the intact leaves of the sporophytes opened in response to red light, but they did not open when blue light was superimposed on the red light. The results were confirmed in the isolated Adiantum epidermis. The red light-induced stomatal response was not a...
متن کاملAdiantum capillus-veneris Linn. (Maidenhair fern) in modern phytotherapy
Background and objectives: Maidenhair fern is an herbal medicine belonging to the family Pteridaceae which is extensively found in Atlantic coast as far as Ireland, America and Iran. The fronds of Adiantum capillus-veneris are prescribed for treatment of different diseases. Different phytochemical compositions such as flavonoids, alkaloids, tannins, terpenoids, etc...
متن کاملEffect of Adiantum Capillus veneris Linn on an Animal Model of Testosterone-Induced Hair Loss
Androgenetic alopecia is the most common form of hair loss in men. The present study was designed to evaluate the hair growth-promoting activity of a preparation of the Adiantum capillus-veneris Linn. (A. capillus-veneris) on albino mice using a testosterone-induced alopecia model. Five groups of albino mice were studied: (A) Testosterone solution only (n=6); (B) Testosterone + Finasteride solu...
متن کاملComplete nucleotide sequence of the chloroplast genome from a leptosporangiate fern, Adiantum capillus-veneris L.
We determined the complete nucleotide sequence of the chloroplast genome of the leptosporangiate fern, Adiantum capillus-veneris L. (Pteridaceae). The circular genome is 150,568 bp, with a large single-copy region (LSC) of 82,282 bp, a small-single copy region (SSC) of 21,392 bp and inverted repeats (IR) of 23,447 bp each. We compared the sequence to other published chloroplast genomes to infer...
